Pottery, pottery, where for art thou pottery?

When i sell my pots i often wonder what hands, cupboards and sinks they end up living in?! I can’t believe some of my pots are as far away as Japan, Uganda, Australia and Italy to name a few countries, but it’s great to see pictures of them being used and loved.

If you have any pictures of my work you’d like to share, or even if you just want to tell me what corner of the earth my hand made goodness has made it to, please do let me know. That would be nice.

If you don’t own any yet and want to start your own collection, why not start tomorrow? I’ll be at Morningside Makers Market with an array of pots and knitted items and also a gorgeous furry dog called Albert, although he is not for sale…

Cheerio.

Wedge, throw, fettle, repeat

Hello.

You might not realize how much repetition is involved when you are a potter so I thought you might like to see some pictures i took while I was at work last week. Sometimes mid production I begin to feel like a robot, but I make everything in small batches so at the least I get a variety of repetition!

***Be warned!!!*** There is a lot of grey in the following pictures. I’m so glad I have lots of colourful glazes to make them pretty!

Days off are never pottery free!

Adventures with Albert
Adventures with Albert

Hello there!

On my way home a couple of weeks ago I stopped in Glasgow and left some more pots into Sunshine No.1, It is such a fabulous shop. Suzi has got a brilliant range of handmade goods sourced from all over Scotland. I continued my journey with a rucksack, a wheeley case and a bag, all full of pots, and Albert, and headed for the boat. Quite a challenge, especially when i got to the escalator. Albert froze! but thankfully a lovely man came along and offered to carry my bag! How nice.

When I got home, mum picked me up and we headed straight to Seasons. They are now fully restocked too! I still had a few more deliveries to do after that, but we did manage to squeeze in a cup of tea and a scone too. Yum!

Bike Mugs in progress

Since returning home again I’ve been making more Bike mugs for Honest Thistle and Bee Mugs for Manchester Bee Company. They will be on their way to the shop shelves soon!  I’ve also made some pots for me! My store was beginning to look a little empty so I’ve been throwing like a machine and now I’m running out of space again!

This weekend I am doing 2 markets –

Market: Blairgowrie Community Market
Date: Saturday 25/6/16
Time: 10am – 3pm
Location: Blairgowire

Market: Little Birds Market
Date: Sunday 26/6/16
Time: 12 noon – 4pm
Location: Glasgow

If you are local to either or just passing through, make sure pay a visit. Both markets are great, The Community Market has lots of fresh local produce including plants, fish and baked goods (oh, and pottery!). Little Birds Market is in the Britannia Panopticon in Glasgow. Apparently its the worlds oldest surviving music hall. I can’t wait to see it!

Have a nice weekend whatever you get up to.

Cheerio!

Workshop this way

Hello there!

I made some signs for Tea with Jud so that you will be able to find me! My neighbour asked if my signs could get any smaller?! ha ha! I think they are grand, but if you are looking for them, I recommend driving slow. Although, the giant strawberry will be a good landmark in the summer time!

I made the signs in preparation for taking part in Perthshire Open Studios this September, I’m really excited about it. I’ll remind you about it nearer the time.

Now my signs are up and I’m visible to the world I’m going to have to make sure I look my best at all times, just in case the future Mr.Tea with Jud (aka Harry Styles) passes by! I’ll keep my signs up all year round and even if you’re not Harry, you can still come and visit my workshop. If you are coming a long way, please contact me first to make sure that I’ll be in. I will always welcome visitors and am happy to show you around and make you a cup of tea.

ciao for now!

Workshop success!

Hello!

I taught my Espresso Mug workshop in Edinburgh at the start of April. I really enjoyed it and I’m so pleased with how all the pieces turned out. I love how you can give 8 people the same brief but have 8 totally different results.Thankfully there were no disasters in the kiln and everyone’s work survived! It has now been delivered back to the new owners/makers. Phew!

The workshop generated a lot of interest, and I had really good feedback from all the participants so I have decided to teach another one! My next Espresso Mug workshop will be:

Time: 11.30 – 3pm
Date: Saturday 6th August 2016
Location: Morningside Makers Market

Edinburgh Espresso Mug Workshop August 2016 Pottery Class

There are only eight places available so book now to avoid disappointment! There is a 10% discount for everyone who books before midnight on Wednesday 18th May!
